Do all babies sleep though their Newborn Photoshoot?

As a photographer of newborns, I ask all mums to feed their babies before their photoshoot so they have a full belly when they arrive at my studio in Harpenden. Usually after a quick car journey they are quite often well on the road to having a deep sleep! Most newborn babies sleep up to 18 hours a day so you would expect them to sleep right through their photoshoot right?

Wrong! Not all of them do!

Some are quite determined to fight sleep even at that early age – it’s a good insight to the future!  We always get there eventually, the warm cosy studio normally does the trick and we will get some sleepy newborn shots, I have plenty of patience and I’m more than happy to wait as long as it takes to get fabulous photographs. That said, wide awake shots are just as adorable, seeing those milky dark blue baby eyes is definitely something worth capturing!!
