A newborn shoot with personalised backdrop
While some clients love the pristine studio aesthetic, many desire a more personalised touch in their photographs, opting for my distinctive lifestyle approach within the comfort of their own home.
My at home photoshoots offer a very different look and feel to newborn photography compared to my studio sessions. They allow for a more intimate and personal setting as they also capture the essence of your family's living space, showcasing your home and your personal touches using only natural lighting.
What to expect
I will arrange a time and date with you over the phone and ideally visit your house to identify the best areas with natural light. This will eliminate certain rooms so you don’t need to worry about them on the day. The majority of the photos will take place in locations such as the nursery, parents' bedroom, and common living areas like the TV room. If the weather permits, we can also venture into the garden to take advantage of the lovely outdoor light. Additionally, I recommend capturing a photo at your front door, creating a special record of your baby's first home.
Newborn sessions are generally scheduled Monday - Friday, starting around 10am. I find this time is good for most babies and crucially for daylight. In the summer months these times may change as the days are a lot longer and it’s always worth pushing back a few hours for the evening sun to stream into your family room or nursery. When a session date is agreed upon, I will send you the necessary paperwork, and once your deposit is paid, your slot is booked!
On the day of the shoot
To ensure the baby is as content as possible, it's best to have them with a full tummy before my arrival. Similar to my studio shoots, the session will be baby led, allowing for as many food and nappy breaks as needed. My at home sessions typically last around 2+ hours, providing ample time to capture beautiful moments.
Siblings and pets
Of course it wouldn’t be the same without having siblings and our furry friends in the photos and as they are at home already they can just pop in and out of the photos as desired.
After the session
Approximately 7-10 days after our shoot, I will invite you to a viewing and ordering session. During this time, you will have the opportunity to view your images on a 55" high-definition screen, helping you decide which ones to order. I will also have samples of photo books and frames, allowing you to envision how they will complement your home decor. The session usually lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours and takes place in my home in Harpenden.

3. You want to include your pets! I understand that pets are an integral part of your family. Whether they're playfully wandering in the background or snuggling up with you, they’ll add that extra layer of warmth to your photos.
4. You’re not ready to leave the house just yet. This might apply to you for a number of reasons, and if that’s the case then this is a perfect option for you.
