5 tips to create the perfect wall display!
Once you’ve had your newborn or family photoshoot, you then have a new dilemma - one which could have been plaguing you for a long time already - how do you hang your photos to make the perfect wall display??
You may feel a bit overwhelmed as to how you should go about it - then before you know it several months have passed and it’s still on your to do list. If you've managed to find yourself in this situation, then let me give you my top 5 tips to create a dazzling display of your own.
1. Print your photographs size 6x4
If you are viewing your images, one after the other, on a computer then it can be a bit tricky to get a decent overview of all your photos. My advice would be to get all your images printed out at 6x4 then you can have a little play with the arrangement and see which ones naturally sit well together. This may be because the light is similar, or perhaps the backgrounds are the same or the pose, you’ll recognise it when you see it!!
2. Choose the centre image first
Which photo is going to be your hero image? If your photographs are of your children and your family as a group, then you might want to have your family photo take centre stage in the middle, then build up the other images around that one.
3. Make sure your subjects are facing/ leaning inwards towards the centre
To make this happen you might have to flip one of your images, so that all the people in the photo face toward the centre of the display, thereby drawing your eye inwards making your photos feel more cohesive.
4. Think about mixing colour and black and white images
Some photos just lend themselves well to being black and white but as long as your gallery of photos is balanced then mixing them up like this will work just fine.
5. Size matters!
Evaluate the size of your wall and see what size print your wall will comfortably hold. Cut out some paper to the following sizes 12”x16”, 16”x20” and 30”x20” as these are the most popular sizes. Frames that are too small will be lost and too large will be overwhelming. The largest frame that I offer is the 30”x20” - glass size. What do I mean by glass size?? This is literally the size of the glass that sits on top of your print and white mount. Wooden frames are variable by size and depth, but the glass is always a fixed size.
